Trying CBD for Postpartum Anxiety and Depression
I never expected navigating postpartum life to be so hard. Joy filled my heart as I brought my child into the world, but a cloud of anxiety and thoughts of sadness were always present in my mind. For relief at that moment, conventional medicine was my only hope, so I started with prescription drugs.
Exploring medication options for postpartum depression
I can still remember when I thought about asking for help from doctors. After childbirth, my anxiety became worse than it had ever been before, and postpartum depression weighed down on me like an anchor. However, reading through possible side effects lists scared me off traditional medications altogether.
The idea that these pills could make me want to have suicidal thoughts even more terrified me beyond belief. Not only did they have the potential to do nothing or make things worse? Breastfeeding made everything more complicated by introducing the possibility any substance might pass into my son's body, too. Therefore, I was not willing to go there without knowing what could happen next.
Considering CBD as a holistic approach
I got into natural remedies because I was searching for something safe. It was then that I discovered cannabidiol (CBD). With its healing claims and natural origins, I was interested in trying this out.
I spoke to my therapist and did some more investigation before taking CBD regularly. This helped me know how to take it carefully and with full knowledge of what I'm doing. Selecting which form of CBD would be best suited for me depending on factors such as weight or height could help make sure that I get the most out of it without having too much risk involved.
CBD for my postpartum depression and anxiety
What a relief! CBD did more than I was expecting. At first, there was a slight release of anxiety, which was then accompanied by calmness and balance. Instead of worrying about everything all the time like I used to do as a mom, now nothing fazes me, and I can think clearly.
It has been 6 years since my journey with this CBD began, and still today, it remains one of the most important parts of maintaining sound health for myself.
Everyone's experience is different
Different people have different experiences, and so I know that not everyone will find CBD helpful. But speaking from personal experience alone, I cannot overemphasize how much this substance has benefited me mentally (and otherwise).
I would like to point out that I'm not a medical expert, and I don't support CBD as the only remedy for anxiety and postpartum depression. People have different experiences. What worked for me might not work for another person.
Talk to your doctor first
It is important for women facing similar difficulties to seek help from doctors and try different forms of treatment that suit their individual needs.
By telling my story, I do not mean to give a formula but rather to bring comfort and unity among other mothers who are going through the complex journey of postpartum depression.
